As of 1520 BST, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.31% at 41,895.15, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both came out the gate 0.40% weaker at 5,690.57 and 17,941.12, respectively.
The Dow opened 130.04 points lower on Friday, taking a bit out of gains recorded in the previous session as investors cheered the Federal Reserve Bank's decision to cut its base overnight interest rate by half a percentage point.
In terms of Friday's headlines, Nike revealed that chief executive John Donahoe had suddenly stood down from the role, while shares in logistics giant FedEx traded lower after it trimmed full-year earnings and revenue guidance.
No major data points were scheduled for release on Friday.
